MRC Aardenburg uses virtual reality to optimize the rehabilitation process. The centre treats both military personnel and civilians using three Motek devices: CAREN, GRAIL and DynSTABLE. For example the CAREN consists of a moveable platform surrounded by a semi-circular screen on which a virtual world is shown. Movements and forces are both recorded simultaneously. The added value of the CAREN is that you can allow people to work in challenging situations in a controlled and safe manner. People often dare to go a step further than in the outside world. Take a look at the following video to learn more about how the CAREN and GRAIL are used at the MRC Aardenburg.
